British grain company Weetabix raised eyebrows on Twitter after suggesting fans should try their Heinz baked beans on their grain, and even shared a picture of the bizarre dish as encouragement.
The stunt didn’t seem to inspire any takers, but it certainly achieved its goal of getting everyone’s attention from Which? on the official NHS Twitter account, rushing to express disapproval.

The stunt did not convince fans of the brand and many began to put down the strange combination.
“This is the worst food I’ve ever seen with my eyes,” said one.

Other brands’ Twirtter accounts, including BirdsEye, have been active and have made a name for themselves online with Weetabix
“People use the phrase ‘that’s nasty’ too much these days, but I really mean it when I say this is the biggest damn monstrosity I’ve ever seen,” said another.

‘OH MY GOD! I ate some strange combos (melted Nutella on Weetabix is my guilty pleasure) but I can’t imagine defying this one, ”said another.

“Babe are you okay? You hardly touched your Weetabix and your beans, ”wrote Lidl’s Twitter account.

Dominos Pizza, Specsavers, KFC and even which ones? made fun of the Weetabix initiative on social media

Fast food chains also piled up, with KFC UK and Ireland’s account tweeted, “Alexa, how do I delete someone else’s tweet?”
“That doesn’t fly with us,” Virgin Atlantic said simply.
In the meantime, Domino’s went with: ‘Us: Pineapple on pizza is the most controversial food ever. Weetabix: Hold my spoon. ‘
The frozen food brand BirdsEye wrote: “We’re sticking to potato waffles.”

The NHS and Citizens Advice Bureau also got involved, while Weetabix took on the jokes and criticism

It’s not known why the brands decided to introduce the Beans on Bix idea today, but some joked that it was too early for April’s fools, which traditionally happens on April 1st.
Matt Mill, Marketing Director at Heinz Beanz, said there is currently no official partnership between the two brands.
“Well, the combination of two of the most popular breakfast foods in the country has surely made a splash on social media!”
“And who should we judge how the people serve their beanz? But if you ask us, Heinz Beanz is a winner on Weetabix for a high protein start to the day. Don’t knock until you’ve tried!
“We firmly believe that our Beanz goes well with anything, be it Weetabix, toast or your roast. We believe Beanz is a delicious addition to any meal,” he added.

Weetabix fans were far from convinced that it would work well with Heinz baked beans, and some called the idea a “monstrosity.”
