Emily Blunt admits planning has become a problem with everyone, but the script they have is solid. It is a work in progress and they want to do it. Here’s what she had to say.
“Yes, [the script] is really promising and really, really cool. I just don’t know when everything will somehow align, you know what I mean? Between all of our schedules, it just needs to be the right time. But there is something in the works for sure, so that’s a great idea. A great idea.”
Edge of Tomorrow was directed by Doug Liman and is based on the graphic novel All You Need is Kill. The film features a military general, played by Tom Cruise, who lives the same day over and over while battling an invasive alien race. Marketing has failed to adapt in many ways. The slogan Live Die Repeat was the title at one point too, which led to some confusion. But critics and audiences alike accepted the film, and it grossed $ 370 million at the box office. That number is pretty good on its own, but the reported budget of $ 178 million has hurt profitability.
But passionate fans and the desire of those involved to continue the story have kept the sequel alive over the years. Unfortunately, those involved are some of the biggest names in Hollywood. Tom Cruise is currently filming both Mission: Impossible 7 and Mission: Impossible 8 Back to back with director Christopher McQuarrie who wrote the script for Edge of Tomorrow. He is expected to return as a producer. Emily Blunt has meanwhile A quiet place part II Arriving next year with projects like The English and Don’t fade on her to-do list. Not to mention, Cruise and Doug Liman are currently preparing to shoot a movie for Universal Pictures in space.
Doug Liman previously said he was hoping to get around Tomorrow’s edge 2 once Tom Cruise finished the next two Impossible mission Movies.
