There are so many free trials out there these days that it’s almost not worth paying for anything. Finally, add up all the trial periods for movie streaming services and you could be watching movies for months without a penny leaving your bank account.
Of course, while they give so much, free trials have a sting in the tail – forget to cancel and you could be charged the full price of a membership.
This is why we’ve listed the best free trials currently available to you, how long they run, how much the service typically costs, and whether you need to cancel to avoid paying.
Amazon Prime Student
Trial length: Six months

With a free trial of Amazon Prime Student, you get most of the benefits of a fully paid Amazon Prime member, plus some exclusive student-only offers throughout the year.
That means unlimited free next day delivery, unlimited access to Prime Video’s selection of movies and TV (including Premier League games), Prime Music, and more.
NOW TV
Trial length: Seven days
Normal costs: £ 3.99 a month for kids, £ 4.99 a month for Hayu, £ 9.99 a month for entertainment, £ 11.99 a month for Sky Cinema

NOW TV offers separate free trials for four of its services: Hayu (Reality TV), Kids, Entertainment (TV) and Sky Cinema. And best of all, you can take advantage of all four free trials whether you already have a NOW TV account or not.

Apple TV +

A seven-day free trial of Apple TV + is available to all new customers, giving you unlimited access to the streaming service.
However, you can also get a full year free when you buy a new iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, iPod, or Mac. You also get free access to Apple TV + if you have an Apple Music Student plan.
YouTube Premium Student

YouTube Premium has the feature we’ve all asked for for years – the ability to listen to YouTube videos while the app is closed.
In addition, there are no ads and you can also download videos (music or other) to watch offline. However, we mostly enjoy playing music in the background.
BritBox

A BritBox free trial gives you full access to the platform’s collection of British TV shows and films, including The middlemen, Doctor Who and Love islandas well as a whole host of other content from the BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5.
And unlike live TV, you don’t need a TV license to watch BritBox – although, as we always point out, students usually don’t need one anyway.

Spotify Premium Student

When you sign up for Spotify Premium, you get ad-free streaming, plus the ability to download songs and podcasts to your phone and listen to them offline.
If you’d like to keep paying for a membership, expressly sign up for a free trial of Spotify Premium Student. This way you get a 50% discount on the usual subscription fee as well as a free Headspace membership.
Apple Music Student
Trial length: Three months

You’ll need to check your student status with Apple to get a trial of Apple Music Student, but it’s definitely worth signing up for, rather than the basic plan (£ 9.99 per month).
As mentioned earlier, in addition to all of the music you can stream, a student account also gets free access to Apple TV +.
If you choose not to cancel your trial, you can get all of this for $ 4.99 per month – that’s half the cost of a regular plan that doesn’t even come with Apple TV +. Glob.

Audible members receive one credit per month to purchase an audiobook regardless of price. That title is yours even if you cancel your Audible membership or free trial. If you are not satisfied with the audiobook, you can return it for another credit.

YouTube Music Student

Confused by the fact that YouTube has YouTube Premium and Youtube music? Yes, we were too.
The main difference is that YouTube is Music purely for music and therefore has a lower monthly cost than YouTube Premium.
It goes without saying that we’re only interested because they offer a 30-day free trial that gives you all of the ad-free, downloadable listening rights that paying members also get.
SoundCloud Go and Go +

As this list of free trials shows, there are quite a few music streaming services out there. But what sets Jay-Z’s favorite project, TIDAL, apart from most of the others is that his HiFi subscription gives you “lossless audio” – in other words, incredible sound quality.
This 30-day free trial is for Premium only. However, if you’re a serious audiophile and you like what you find after signing up, it might be worth paying full price for HiFi.
Headspace Plus
