Greggs has always been a student favorite, and we’ve figured out ways to get their hot treats and sweet things for free (or as good as)!

We couldn’t imagine ourselves without the option of getting a hot Greggs instead of a supermarket meal … after all, it costs a lot less and can be more filling!
Whether breakfast rolls, sausage rolls or the classic jam donut – there is something for everyone. The hard part is finally deciding what you want when you get to the checkout. What if you don’t have fresh sausage rolls out of the oven? Nightmare.
As cheap as Greggs is and can be, we still want to share with you the tips and tricks to get as much cheap (or even free) food as possible … why wouldn’t you use it?
Free pizza and cake

One of the best freebies we’ve ever had is a free slice of pizza and donut from Greggs. All you have to do is Download the Greggs Rewards app and sign in.
In this way, as a new user, you will receive a reward that can range from a slice of pizza to a donut to a coffee.
In the past, we have also received vouchers for a free Lucozade or a free cookie because we have not used the app for a long time. So watch out for this. Best for on the go and super hungry … nothing better than a free, delicious snack!
Pay 44 pence for a sausage roll
What if we told you you could get a Greggs bun that came hot out of the oven for just 44p? Read on … we’ll save you 61p per roll.
Iceland sells both four and eight packs of Greggs sausage rolls (yes, real Greggs).
Usually we roll our eyes (a bit like you’d like to do now) and say it’s not the same. But honestly, give us a blind taste test with these straight out of the oven and one from Greggs direct and we wouldn’t be able to tell the difference.
Of course, you can go the whole hog and get your Greggs sausage rolls for free …
Pick up a free Greggs sausage bun, vegan bun, or sweet treat

As a student, it is important that you make the most of your student discount and offers while you can. Similar to the McDonald’s free cheeseburger / McFlurry trick (when you purchase a meal and show your student ID), you can do the same at Greggs too.
Every time you buy a sandwich deal from Greggs, you can request a free sausage roll, vegan bun, or sweet treat. Everyone. Time.
We also encourage you to claim your giveaway when family members or friends purchase a sandwich offering totally free to you!
Get 50% Off Your Greggs Order
It’s a huge savings and one we all want …
The Greggs employee discount is 50%. So we strongly recommend making friends with someone who works there, especially since (as far as we know) there is no limit to how much they can buy in a day. We don’t want to ask them to bring the whole place home, but hopefully you can ask for a few little things.
If you work at Greggs, let us know if there are any other benefits by sending us a message on Facebook. We would like to know more about it.
Get free Greggs coffee

Coffee deals are a big deal on the Greggs Rewards app and appear not only when you sign up as a new app user, but also occasionally in random places to cheer you up! They’re great for running errands and need a pick-me-up.
Just make sure your notifications are turned on so they can send you a push notification when you have a giveaway available. Otherwise, it can be difficult to know when they added something to the app or you might forget, like us, to check!
Oh, and make sure you also check the expiration dates of your freebies – there’s nothing worse than taking out your phone to redeem a freebie only to find that the code expired the day before. Classic money mistake.
Free Greggs for Vodafone customers
If you are a Vodafone customer, consider yourself lucky. The Vodafone Rewards app VeryMe gives its customers free Greggs coffee, sausage rolls, sweet treats and more.
All you have to do is log into the app, go to the rewards area and redeem your code in the store by scanning it at the checkout.
To stay up to date on what freebies to get or when without having to keep checking the app, visit the Student Deals section on the website or subscribe to our Daily Deals newsletter or Telegram updates (right on your phone ).
Make cheap baked goods at home

You might think this is a bit of a tedious process, but we tried making sausage rolls and other baked goods at home and they turned out great!
The more treats you make, the cheaper they get, although we’d recommend getting good quality ingredients for the best taste possible.
For example, making sausage and bean melt baking at home should cost about 40 pence. If you buy Lidl’s puff pastry (around 90p) use half a can of beans (20p), a small amount of grated cheese (literally pennies) and some sausages (Iceland has 30 for £ 3), that’s all what you need!
Collect rewards in the app
Let’s get that straight … you can be rewarded for every delicious purchase at Greggs? Yes! You can collect rewards for every transaction and receive exclusive gifts only for apps from them.
In the Greggs Rewards app, you have six different stamp cards (for each category of goodies). Every time you buy a delicious product, you get a stamp on the corresponding card – cool, right?
Once you have collected nine stamps in a single category, your 10th in that category is free.
Now that you’ve managed to get these sweet treats cheaper, you might want to take a look at some of the best dominoes hacks we’ve come across.
