The Turkish public prosecutor’s office has launched an investigation into statements made by right-wing Dutch politician Geert Wilders about Recep Tayyip Erdogan, local media reported on Tuesday.
The investigation began on February 15. NTV quoted Ankara prosecutors as saying after Wilders labeled the Turkish president a terrorist and urged Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte to evict the Turkish ambassador from the country as well as the NATO coalition.
“Erdogan even reported me in Turkey and wants me behind bars there. It is time for Rutte to show courage and deal with the terrorist Erdogan, end his influence in the Netherlands, exclude Turkey from NATO and exclude the Turkish ambassador, ”Wilders wrote on Monday in a Twitter post.
In response to the comments, Omer Celik, spokesman for Erdogan’s ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP), described Wilders as “fascists” and “Daesh killers”.
“This fascist who attacked our president would have been a bloody Nazi if he had lived through the years of World War II. If he were currently living in the Middle East, he would be a Daesh killer. During this time he lived in the Netherlands and became an ugly fascist, anti-human, ”wrote Celik in a Twitter post on the same day.
Erdogan heeft zelfs aangifte tegen me gedaan in turkey and wil me daar achter de tralies. Het wordt tijd dat Rutte lef toont en de Terrorist Erdogan aanpakt, zijn in NL stops, Turkije uit de NAVO zet en de Turkse Ambassador uitwijst! #Erdogan #Turkie #Wilders
