NRL star Kurt Capewell was embroiled in an X-rated porn scandal after a video surfaced of him having sex with another man.
Police and the NRL Integrity Unit were notified last year when a person tried to sell screenshots of the 27-year-old’s sex video.
The video was captured in 2013 while the Penrith Panthers player was working as a carpenter when he started his rugby league career on local teams.
“I’ve lived with it for years. I was more concerned about my family that it might come out and the embarrassment it would cause, ”Capewell told The Daily Telegraph.

The video was captured after Capewell, then 20, responded to an ad to make money doing a photo shoot for a sportswear and underwear company
Capewell is now speaking after the video went viral on porn websites and public forums this week.
The star from the country of origin sent a text message to his teammates from Penrith on Wednesday giving them an overview of the video that was being distributed online.
“It’s a bit difficult to put the whole story into words, but I was broke and did a bit of modeling, then I was persuaded to do a porno. Unknown to me, but it turns out they put a guy on the other side of the wall, ”he wrote.
“I am terribly ashamed and ashamed even though it happened when I was so young.
“It’s something I’ve been dealing with behind closed doors for the past 8 years and I know that you all have my back and will stand by me to move forward.”
Capewell told his teammates who include Nathan Cleary and Josh Mansour so they could hear the full story from him.
He said although it was difficult to tell them that everyone in the locker room was supportive and understood their position.

He said during the shoot he was offered extra money to do the porn video and because he needed the money he said yes – without knowing what it all meant

Capewell said he was “young and naive” at the time and took full responsibility.
The film shows sportswear photos, nude photos and the X-rated film.
Capewell, who has a longtime girlfriend, said the incident reminded young people to be cautious when offered money to spend on photo shoots.
NRL Integrity examined the video last year but took no action as the video was six years old at the time.
Capewell made his NRL debut for the Cronulla Sharks in 2016. In 2019 he signed a two-year deal for Penrith.
