Joe Joyce wasted no time calling Oleksandr Usyk after taking an impressive 10th round knockout win against Daniel Dubois on Saturday night.
The smart 35-year-old managed to keep his distance from his opponent during the all-British fight and eventually his relentless thrust took its toll. Dubois’ left eye swelled and he knelt before failing the 10-second count.
And although promoter Frank Warren points to a possible rematch between the duo, Joyce is now determined to take Usyk for the WBO heavyweight crown should Anthony Joshua vacate his title.

Usyk became the mandatory WBO challenger, and Joyce has the Ukrainian firmly in her sights
Joyce sensationally announced his intention in the ring by saying: “Usyk, Usyk, I’m ready for you, Usyk.”
Joshua is the current owner of the WBO heavyweight belt but may drop it to start a blockbuster showdown with Tyson Fury.
After unifying the cruiserweight division, Usyk became a mandatory WBO challenger – and Joyce’s loss to Dubois brought his hopes for a rematch closer than ever to reality.

Dubois was caught many times by Joyce’s formidable thrust and later knelt down on the 10th round
The two fought in the World Series of Boxing seven years ago, with Usyk taking the lead by a five-round decision.
Joyce’s triumph at Church House in Westminster gave him the shot to fame and it is unlikely that he would want to wait.
Joshua will be defending his IBF, WBA, and WBO heavyweight titles against Kubrat Pulev next month, and a Union bout with Fury is a strong possibility after that.
A two-fight contract between two of the UK’s biggest heavyweight superstars was signed for 2021.

Frank Warren believes Joyce is now “in the driver’s seat” after watching his sensational triumph
It has been reported that Usyk will insist the world boxing organization force Joshua to fight him or vacate his title early next year.
While waiting for Joshua and Fury to duel twice, the Ukrainian is expected to fight in fights at least once and potentially risk his mandatory status.
When asked what the future holds for Joyce, Warren said, “He’s in the driver’s seat, isn’t he? He’s going there now in 2021.”
