Cyberpunk 2077 players report getting corrupted when their backup files get too large. According to a report, the players fail to load the backup file when it exceeds 8MB in size and they get an error message. The highly anticipated action RPG title from CD Projekt Red is quite infamous due to the numerous bugs that have been reported online since the game launched. The company has already released two hotfixes since it was launched on December 10th. In a recent development, Sony removed the game from the PlayStation Store after multiple reports of bugs and disappointing console performance.
According to the information on the Reddit and CD Projekt RED forums, Cyberpunk 2077 has a maximum size of 8MB for stored files. The users whose file size exceeds the limit will be greeted with a message that their saved file is corrupt and cannot be loaded. The size of the saved file will increase if a user has picked up too many items and craft materials. It’s quite bizarre for an RPG game full of pickup and loot items to have such a problem.
The developers of Cyberpunk 2077 (Xbox Series X Test | PS4 Test) responded to the problem on CD Projekt’s GOG.com support page. The developers say that the saved file cannot be recovered if it is damaged. In this case, users can use an older backup file to continue playback and try to keep a smaller number of items. “If you have used the duplicate items bug, please load a backup file that is not affected,” the developers said, adding that the backup file size limit may be increased in a future patch.

Since the launch of Cyberpunk 2077, the developers have already released two hotfixes – 1.04 and 1.05 – on different platforms. Because the game is so buggy, players have reportedly received refunds even after playing beyond the typical two-hour game window. Cyberpunk 2077 later announced it on Twitter, saying that players can get a refund for their digital copy.
Sony recently removed Cyberpunk 2077 from its PlayStation Store and is offering a full refund to all players who purchased the game through the PS Store. Microsoft is now also offering refunds for players who purchased the game from the Microsoft Store, even though they did not delist the game like Sony did. Additionally, Microsoft Store added a warning message that players may experience performance issues while playing this game on Xbox One consoles.
Though the developers and the game itself seem to be on a sticky wicket, Cyberpunk 2077 recently tweeted from its official handle that it will be releasing “two major patches” in January and February to address issues players are having on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One are facing. The latest hotfix for consoles fixes issues related to many bugs related to individual missions such as non-player characters (NPCs) disappearing, incorrect geometry, mechanics, and much more. There are some improvements to the gameplay such as: B. The response times of NPCs taking cover and visual fixes include T-Posing NPCs, changes to HDR, and problems with user interface overlap, among others.
