French drone manufacturer Parrot announced that it will supply 300 ANAFI unmanned aerial systems for the French army under a five-year contract.
As the company found, Parrot was chosen by the French Defense Procurement Agency (DGA) to supply its ANAFI micro-drones for equipping the French armies.
Henri Seydoux, Chairman, CEO, Founder and Major Shareholder of Parrot, sums up: “We are very proud to have won this tender from the DGA and to continue working on further opportunities with the USA. It is the result of the careful work of our teams in France for more than two years and the experience of ten years of experience. We have taken an important step for the group with the development of the ANAFI platform, which is designed for the general public, tailored to the needs of professionals and tailored to the needs of the armed forces. In today’s world, Parrot believes that it is vital for security forces and armies to rely on high-performance, high-tech consumer devices that are highly secure. “
The selected ANAFI micro-drone is specially adapted for global armed forces and offers soldiers a micro-drone weighing 500 grams with day and night observation options. With a flight time of 32 minutes, it has the best performance in its category. The five-year contract includes several hundred drones, customization development, and equipment and software maintenance. The first systems will be delivered in the coming months.
The ANAFI drone expands the reconnaissance capabilities of the French armed forces. Thanks to the powerful 32x zoom, which is structured around two 4K 21 megapixel cameras, it is possible to detect targets the size of a person at a distance of up to 2 km with a level of detail of 13 cm. The zoom images are merged with those of the FLIR Boson thermal imaging camera. The latter enables hot spots to be identified by day and night. It can be used in 55 seconds and is also very discreet: with a sound signature of 79 dB at a distance of 1 m, it is inaudible from 130 m.
Thanks to the technological partnerships implemented by Parrot with leading players in their field, users can also benefit from the growing ecosystem of compatible software. For example, they can manage drone fleets in real time (Skyward, A Verizon Company and DroneSense), create visible and thermal photos / videos (Survae) and tactical maps (Pix4Dreact). Parrot’s research and development services are also planned to further adapt ANAFI USA to the needs of the French armed forces.
ANAFI also meets the DGA requirements in terms of safety. Securing the connection, securing the data, securing the firmware: it meets the strictest cybersecurity standards. A digital signature protects against malicious attempts to change the software of the drone. The drone can only record mission data on the ground segment, not in the air vector, which is then extracted for analysis through physical connection. ANAFI USA has a secure WPA2 connection and open protocols that guarantee confidence in the interoperability of recorded data for confidential missions.
The ANAFI drone system is entirely designed in France and manufactured in the USA. No essential components are made in China.
