The 1st Tank Brigade Combat Team “Iron Horse” reported on its Twitter account that it is looking forward to demonstrating the lethality of the M270 multi-launch missile systems that have recently arrived in Poland.
“I look forward to demonstrating lethality with you and our European partners,” said the Iron Horse ик postпфву in a Twitter post on Friday.
Multi-launch M270 missile systems assigned to the 1st Battalion of the Arkansas National Guard’s 142nd Field Artillery Brigade were deployed in support of Operation Atlantic Resolve in the Drawsko Pomorskie training area, Poland, flag of Poland.
The Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS) is a highly mobile automated system that fires surface-to-surface missiles from the M270 family of launch vehicle platforms. The MLRS ammunition family (MLRS MFOM) can be fired by the three-man crew in less than a minute, which was very successfully demonstrated in Operation Desert Storm.
The MLRS launcher unit consists of an M270 launcher loaded with 12 missiles and packaged in two six-missile pods or two pods for MGM-140 ATACMS surface-to-surface missiles. The launcher is mounted on a stretched Bradley chassis and is a highly automated self-loading and self-aiming system.
Atlantic Resolve was launched in 2014. Rotational workers have been training in Europe since then. Up to 6,000 soldiers take part in this exercise in 17 countries. This is a multinational training event aimed at strengthening relations between Poland, Estonia, Romania, Bulgaria, Latvia, Lithuania and the United States.
@Arkansasguard citizen soldiers practice their MLRS … they have used #IRONHORSE at DPTA in Poland as part of the task force. We look forward to demonstrating lethality with you and our European partners!
