According to the director of the Kharkiv Morozov Bureau of Mechanical Engineering Yakov Mormilo, the Ukrainian marines are to receive a batch of 60 wheeled armored personnel carriers in amphibious version.
Yakov Mormylo has announced that 60 amphibious armored personnel carriers will be produced for the Ukrainian Marines in 2021.
The new amphibious version offers improved lethality, survivability and maneuverability compared to the basic version of BTR-4.
The extended version is equipped with an amphibious kit with which the vehicle can be used for sea operations. The new armored amphibious vehicle can swim at sea and overcome water hazards without configuration changes.
The BTR-4EM has ground mobility and speed similar to the BTR-3 and BTR-4 combat vehicles in sustained operations on land, and can provide organic, direct fire support to dismounted infantrymen when attacking.
The BTR-4EM will support expedition mobility capability and capacity with a balance of performance, protection and payload. Both sea and land performance are important skills for the Marines as they want to complete their missions quickly and effectively.
